The Source: Reagan's ascent

For fans of US political history, John Dickerson's Whistlestop is well worth a listen this week, as he concludes his two-part series on the rise of Reagan in the Republican Party. Focusing specifically on his challenge to Gerald Ford in 1976, Dickerson notes Reagan's speech at that year's national convention that convinced many in the party that they had made a mistake in sticking with the incumbent president. They didn't make the same mistake in 1980.
