PARLIAMENT / DEMOCRACY: Government rejects ban on forcing women to wear high heels

Employers can still force women to wear high-heeled shoes, the government has said. While this issue was the subject of a Westminster Hall debate, after 152,000 people signed a petition, the government has chosen not to proceed with legislating on the matter. Use this example to show the limits of e-petitions and digital participation, and also how parliamentary deliberation does not necessarily yield any concrete results.
