Poor women hit hardest by Tory budgets - report
According to the Women’s Budget Group, women will be £1000 per year worse off in 2020 than they were in in 2010, as a result of changes to the UK tax and benefit system. The thinktank’s findings, which were reported in The Guardian on Saturday, also show that poorer women will be £1678 worse off.
On her maiden speech outside Downing Street, Prime Minister Theresa May pointed out that “If you are a woman, you are paid less than a man.” Her analysis is correct. Now, where’s the action?
